Ravi Sethi

Mr. Ravi Sethi is president of Avaya Labs, the world-class research and development community in Avaya, with over 3,000 people focused on converged voice and data networks, customer relationship management, and unified communications. Avaya Labs creates competitive solutions for Avaya’s customers.

Mr. Sethi joined Avaya to launch a research program aimed at the future of enterprise communication. He has attracted top researchers in collaborative applications, multimedia technologies, data analysis, network software, and software technologies. Their work is expected to lead to innovative solutions and services for Avaya in the years ahead.

Prior to his position at Avaya, Dr. Sethi was senior vice president, communications sciences research, at Bell Laboratories, where he led a team of 300 researchers in areas such as data networks, network management, software systems, and multimedia communications.

He holds a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, specializing in computer science, from Princeton University, Princeton, New Jersey, U.S., and a bachelor of technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology in Kanpur, India. He co-authored the influential textbook Compilers: Principles, Techniques and Tools and authored Programming Languages: Concepts and Constructs.
